What is CTC Tea?

CTC tea stands for “crush, tear, curl” and is a type of tea that is made by a machine. The leaves are crushed, torn, and curled into small pellets. This process allows for a strong and intense flavor, which is why CTC tea is often used in tea bags. It is also commonly used in tea blends, such as chai, as it gives the tea a full-bodied flavor.

What is Orthodox Tea?

Orthodox tea is a type of tea that is made by hand. The leaves are rolled and twisted into various shapes, such as the classic “gunpowder” shape. This process preserves the flavor, aroma and natural oils of the tea leaves, resulting in a tea that is more complex and flavorful. Orthodox tea is often used in loose-leaf tea, which is considered to be of higher quality than tea bags.

Difference between CTC Tea and Orthodox Tea

The main difference between CTC Tea and Orthodox Tea lies in the way they are processed. CTC Tea is produced using machines, while Orthodox Tea is produced using traditional methods.

As a result, CTC Tea has a stronger flavour and aroma, whereas Orthodox Tea has a fuller-bodied flavour and aroma. In terms of cost, CTC Tea is generally cheaper than Orthodox Tea, due to the mechanised processes used in its production.

However, Orthodox Tea is considered to be of higher quality due to its traditional methods of production. So, if you’re looking for a strong and flavourful cup of tea, go for CTC Tea.

If you’re looking for a fuller-bodied and aromatic cup of tea, go for Orthodox Tea.

Vietnamese Artichoke Tea with Rock Sugar I recent Vietnamese Artichoke Tea with Rock Sugar

I recently got my hands on this amazing rock sugar tea all the way from Vietnam, and guess what? it's delicious and super easy to make. So, let's get started!

First things first, grab your favorite cup and place one of those sweet sugar rocks at the bottom. This rock sugar is special because it adds a unique flavor to the tea that you won't find anywhere else. Plus, it's all-natural and gives a touch of sweetness without being overpowering.

Next, boil some water until it's nice and hot. Pour that hot water into your cup, right over the sugar rock. As the water hits the rock sugar, it slowly melts, releasing its sweet goodness into the tea. It's like a little surprise waiting for you at the bottom of your cup!

Now, take a spoon and give it a good stir. This will help dissolve the remaining sugar and blend all those flavors together. You'll notice how the aroma of artichoke fills the air, creating a warm and cozy atmosphere.

Finally, take a moment to enjoy your creation. Take a sip and let that warm artichoke tea with a hint of sweetness from the rock sugar dance on your taste buds. It's truly a treat for your senses!

I love how this artichoke tea with rock sugar takes me on a journey to Vietnam with every sip. It's like having a little piece of their culture right in my cup.
