Chai is one of the most preferred beverages in India. People call it “sukoon”, “zindagi” and whatnot, because it is not just a beverage, but a comfort drink to many! Chai is basically made by steeping black tea in water along with milk.
As people started gaining more knowledge about Tea, they started adding different ingredients in tea like elaichi, adrak, lemongrass, saffron, etc. Among these variations, I have listed down the 5 best chai recipes which are this month’s top favorite!
Masala Chai Recipe
Masala Chai is among the most favorite and most sold types of chai. Made with different spices, this tea is known to heal cold, cough, and many other health issues. It is very flavorful and has a lovely aroma of spices. Masala chai is best made with full-fat milk, but in case you do not have it, you can use a little more milk and lessen the measure of water.
Recipe:
Ingredients –
- 2 cup water
- 1 cup full fat milk
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon black tea
- 1 Laung (Clove)
- 1 Star Anise
- 1 Elaichi (Cardamom)
- 1 cm long dalchini (cinnamon)
- 1 kalimirch (peppercorn)
- Crushed Ginger as required
Method –
- Muddle all the spices and add them to boiling water. Let it boil for a few seconds. Add ginger and black tea.
- Add sugar and milk. Let it boil for a minute, turn off the heat.
- Strain into a chai glass or mug. Enjoy!
Rajwadi Chai Recipe
Rajwadi Chai is the Tea made with Full Milk & Saffron/Kesar Strands is famous all over the world. Saffron and Full Milk being very good for health, they believed this tea helps in keeping them strong during Monsoon & Winter Season. It is a very simple, fuss-free, and quick recipe.
Recipe:
Ingredients –
- 2 Cup Full Fat Milk
- 1½ Sugar
- ¼ tsp cardamom powder
- 4 Saffron Strands
- 1 Tsp Black Tea
Method –
- In a Tea Pot, boil milk, sugar, cardamom powder for about a minute on low flame.
- To this, add saffron strands and black tea and boil till you get a beautiful dark tea color. (You can also add the saffron strands after straining the tea into cups.)
- Strain in Cups & Enjoy the goodness of Rajwadi Chai!
Adrak Elaichi Chai Recipe
Adrak Elaichi ki chai is made by brewing fresh ginger i.e adrak and cardamom i.e elaichi with tea which results in a strong and aromatic cup that’s absolutely fantastic and refreshing!
Recipe:
Ingredients –
- 2 cup water
- 1 cup milk
- 1½ inch piece Adrak (Ginger)
- 2 Elaichi (Green Cardamom)
- 1 teaspoon Tea Leaves
- 1 teaspoon Sugar
Method –
- Use a mortar and pestle to muddle adrak and elaichi to release the juices. Add this to boiling water and boil for about a minute.
- Add sugar and tea. Let it boil for another minute. Now lower the flame and add milk. Let it boil for a few seconds till you see a good brown color of the tea.
- Strain and Enjoy!
Tulsi Chai Recipe
Tulsi tea is a simple and easy tea made with Fresh tulsi leaves. Tulsi is known to strengthen the immune system and in relieving stress. This tea is well known for its relaxing effect.
Recipe:
Ingredients –
- 2 cup water
- 1 cup milk
- 3-4 Tulsi Leaves
- 1 teaspoon Tea Leaves
- 1 teaspoon Sugar
Method –
- Tear tulsi leaves with hand and Add this to boiling water. Boil for about a minute.
- Add sugar and tea. Let it boil for another minute. Now lower the flame and add milk. Let it boil for a few seconds till you see a good brown color of the tea.
- Strain and Enjoy!
Irani Chai Recipe
Irani Chai is the specialty of Hyderabad. It is well known for its rich, creamy, and flavor of spices. It has a dominant flavor of cinnamon and a mild flavor of other spices. This tea is quite strong as compared to other teas or masala tea.
Recipe:
Ingredients –
- 2 cup water
- 1½ cup milk
- ½ teaspoon malai (fresh cream)
- ½ inch Dalchini (Cinnamon)
- 1 small Elaichi (Green Cardamom)
- ½ Badi Elaichi (Black Cardamom)
- 1 Laung (Clove)
- 1 teaspoon Tea Leaves
- 1 teaspoon Sugar
Method –
- In a tea pot, add water, milk, cream, spices and boil for 2-3 minutes on low flame.
- Add sugar and tea leaves. Let it boil for another minute till you see a good brown color of the tea.
- Strain and Enjoy!
