Sambar Powder Recipe – Quick Recipe

Sambar Powder is an aromatic spice used to make Sambar in South India. It is made using different spices like chilies, peppercorns, chana daal, etc. Sambar is a South Indian soupy dish, made with lentils/daal, vegetables, tamarind/imli, herbs & spices. It can be served with Rice, Idli, Dosa, Medu Wada, or any South Indian Snack.

You can also add it to South Indian curries or vegetable preparations.

You can find many variations of this recipe across the internet, and you can also buy a pack of readymade Sambar Powder from the market.

This is my mother’s recipe. She makes it and stores for 3-4 months in the refrigerator. To this recipe, you can also add turmeric powder & dry curry leaves.
